I keep getting Winter Storm Warning notifications. I guess they're not expecting much down in Pueblo?Hardcore, only bad mud, hurricane wind or white out, otherwise "Shooter Ready?"

I think a couple still go out in hurricane winds to practice long range trick shots. Them guys can call the wind.

PSA.
If you want a free CAD program for the most basic things take a look at Blender. It will be a steep learning curve but worth it. It runs on underpowered PCs. I am still trying to figure it out myself in detail, and not sure how to get holes etc. But for the 3d printer stand I am creating it rocks. 20 minutes and all the 2x4 and cladding is figured out. It's not parametric like SolidWorks, NX or Creo, but if you want to plan out a closet, or some cabinets or a simple welded structure it will be just fine.

So basically your subjective opinion of Kanye is to be taken with a huge grain of salt, as it pertains to the quality of his music, because you think all rap is garbage. I?m also not a fan of most of his music, but I actuality like some rap music (mainly older stuff).

Not into much of the 80's rap, more of a 90's guy myself, I like Public Enemy, Ice Cube, 2pac AND Biggy, Bone Thugs, Twista, Red man and Method man, basically anything in that Era.

I've mentioned it before, but I'm quite diverse in my music choices, I like everything from reggaeton to blues, from metal to rap, adult alternative to EDM. I grew up in a smallish farm and cow town, where the number of black people could be counted on one hand, so I didn't exactly grow up in the epicenter of rap/hip hop music, I don't really hate any music, and despite my upbringing, Country music is towards the lower end of my preference list. I sometimes wonder if folks that despise or hate a certain type of music, do so because of the culture that is associated with it, and not actually the music itself.

On that note, a great Mashup and fun song.

I'm similar to you with musical diversity, even to the point that country is about last place. There are a few artists like Chris Stapleton and John Moreland that have songs I like. But once that whiney violin starts up, I'm out. Country music is like all other music in that there are a handful of great songs, the bulk of the rest is forgettable and indistinguishable, and then there is even the worse stuff. There is just something about country that doesn't click with my personality to the point that I feel like if I listen to one more minute I'll start beating my wife my wife with one hand and jerking off dudes with the other.

As far as Kanye goes, I capital L LOVE Kanye's music. The line about being "objectively" the best artist of all time was a joke that I knew no one was going to get. I just like messing with OBC when he says stuff that is too retarded to ignore.

Irving
10-28-2019, 12:32
Oh yeah, so I'm aware of black country artists, but since it's not my genre don't really listen. The very idea that black people are infiltrating the genre with comparable quality music and people are pissed about it like it sounds any different or worse than the out right garbage that they listen to, tickles me pink.

A lot of win in this post, thanks for explaining. As far as OBC goes, judging by various interactions on here, I think you are probably a great guy (one of the few members I've never met), that being said, if you would make posts based on opinion and not as hard fact, the "retarded" thing might not be such an issue.

The best thing you've done so far is get a 2nd opinion after the fact. I'd call and ask if an antibiotic regime would help. Trust me, you have a swollen knee after a week there's issues. Hopefully it's an minor infection and not something more serious, like msra.

Sometimes the stars shine in unexpected ways.

My last evening in GJ for a while so I went to my favorite sushi place. I sat at the sushi bar as I always do when I'm by myself and I splurged on the sashimi platter and a flask of sake. I like watching and talking with the sushi chefs who've been there many years, and the diners at the bar are almost always friendly and open to conversation. Tonight I enjoyed talking with two couples about a variety of local subjects including my work with the very rare bird visiting East Orchard Mesa now. When the couples said goodbye and went their separate ways I finished and waited for the check. Waited and waited, until the waitress finally mentioned that one couple had paid for my dinner. Wow, what a delightfully kind thing to do!

I once paid for a lady's meal (out of a group) because she was the only one in the entire restaurant who said anything when I sneezed.

Meh, their fans are a bunch of TDS (Trump derangement syndrome) folks, was hoping the Astros would win.

If my team doesn't make it next season, I will go with Cleveland Indians.
I like NL over AL anytime, but I will make special exception on Cleveland.

Sashimi is pure sex. Nori and nigiri sushi is like doing it with your clothes on. Good for what it is but sashimi gets down to the simple raw nakedness. Oh, so yum.

What is it?

Vin from the Mistborn series of books by Brandon Sanderson. I don't expect anyone to know that reference, but I know a few board members have read his stuff.

I heard an interesting podcast with an epidemiologist the other day all about the difference between eating raw salt water dish vs raw fresh water fish that was pretty interesting. Actually, the podcast was about food borne illnesses, and the later was covered pretty well.

Anyway, I like trying new foods and feel like there is a whole world of Asian cuisine I'm missing out on.

The best thing you've done so far is get a 2nd opinion after the fact. I'd call and ask if an antibiotic regime would help. Trust me, you have a swollen knee after a week there's issues. Hopefully it's an minor infection and not something more serious, like msra.
The swelling is trauma to the bursa and the bursa is what is producing the fluid. Doc had seen it quite a bit with soldiers running and dropping to a knee. He said the worse thing to do would be to open up the knee. I've got a compression brace coming today. Looks like at least a partial tear of the quadriceps tendon. The MRI should figure out the extent of the damage.

Hope that swelling goes down, bursa pain is an ass.

Well no range day today, just too many odds and ends. Bummer.

Oh snap. Put my old compressor out on Craigslist and it sold in 1/2 hour for full asking. I priced it above the the crappy old ones but below the "3 months on CL price" Luck and good pricing.

Quiet compressor here I come.

She was in charge of the clothing stuff, and for her first time, she did pretty well. I was in charge of getting her the elements (glass vials of certain metals) and glass daggers.

Originally for the daggers I made all these octagonal drawings with plans to glue pieces of plexiglass together to make what amounts to a hollow sai. Once the first piece of plexiglass shattered apart in my saw, I just decided to glue a bunch of pieces together and grind/cut out the daggers. I glued a piece of sheer material in the very center for some texture, but the glue made enough texture on it's own. I could try and polish them up some more, but I've got other things to do.

I think Ford vs Ferrari movie would be so stupid that I would rather watch a porn on a website full of malware/viruses/spywares.

It is just part of stupid ass 24hr lemans and not even top FIA level race. Stupid ass ford or cosworth ford has no play in big dog races.

I mean I like Niki Lauda and that movie Rush, but the storyline was stupid by making nobody James Hunt as a major character. Crazy.....

As for that being said, I would NOT buy a new ford for a decade (2019-2029).

Btw.. happy halloween!

Yup. Just part of stupid ass Lemans w/ over budget gt40 year.
Last time when Ford (race with Jaguar name around 2001 to 2005ish) on F1, it was about 3 seconds per laps slower. It means Ferrari will lap the FORD at around 30 laps on shorter circuit. LOL.

Thanks, Gman. I got the story in a six minute documentary and didn't have to sit through a two hour movie.

While it happened, it's also a bit silly. ;)

This young lady can cook...excellent Korean food, and great takes on other Asian cuisine...

You should check out a show called Fastest Car on Netflix.

The number of Fords/Hondas/station wagons/pick up trucks etc. putting beat downs on super cars might surprise you.

Souping up daily drivers to go fast in a straight line doesn't really interest me. Maybe that's why I didn't like the Fast and Furious series. Or maybe it was because they were stupid. It's tough to tell. [Coffee]

After knee manipulation under anesthesia (mua), orthopedic wanted me to get a knee braces.
I asked them how much.
They said it is free out of pocket , but they will charge 900 to an insurance company.

After hearing that, I went to ebay and bought a new braces for $45ish.

900 is beyond moral hazard.

We've bought a bunch of medical stuff from Amazon. It's a great resource where you're not fully dependent on some provider.

Ha! My dog had an ear infection and it cost $140 for a 5 minute vet visit and a 1 oz. bottle of some stuff. Same stuff on Amazon, 3X bigger bottle, was $15.

Apparently the medical scam business isn't just for humans, but that's no surprise I guess.

Been telling the spouse, for months. That outside thermometer is broke. No it's not, she insist. Well yesterday was in the 70's. So i ask, still think the thermometer works? Yes why? Well according to that, it's 110. Hmm it must be broken [facepalm]

Need to locate the wheel weights & chains for the plow setup. The weights are a black plastic filled with concrete looking things, that get bolted to the inside of the real wheels. Buy or recover that seat you might get $5-600, depending on overall mechanical condition. It would make a nice snow removal unit for your place.

Had the follow-up appointment RE: my knee with the integral bloody waterbed. Nothing major damaged that would require surgery. It's a large hematoma about 22cm long and 16.5cm wide. Doc continued to say that's the biggest swollen up knee he's ever seen. I get to wear a compression sleeve/brace and hopefully the swelling will go down in about 3 months. No more opportunities to possibly infect the knee (i.e. draining) are warranted. It's an inconvenience and that's about it. They also offered some good advice to not kneel on that knee. Gee doc, I never thought of that. [facepalm]

All in all, good news.

Surprisingly, hanging Christmas lights isn't as fun as it sounds. Individually screwing in each bulb, the individually installing each clip, then custom making each strand with custom fitted ends. All while hanging on for dear life because the roof is a 10/12 pitch and made of plastic, so your specially grippy roof shoes do absolutely dick to help you stay alive. Just not as fun as it sounds.

Charge more for bulbs over led's

Irving
11-08-2019, 02:21
They are LEDs, but when you buy a 1,000ft roll of wire with sockets, the bulbs come individually. "Bulbs" look like crystal, but are heavy plastic. Everything is surprisingly durable.

With the reprieve from the cold and snow I hung new gutters over the north and south sides of the cabin. What was left of he old gutters came down when I rebuilt the roof with polyiso foam panels last year. The entries are below the drip edges so ice build up was a problem. I'm sure glad I invested in roll around scaffolding many years ago. I've used it a lot over 25 years. Much better and safer than ladders for many jobs.

I descended into the crawl space where I've cellared a few hundred bottles of wine that I've made over the years. I pulled a 2015 Cabernet Franc and we opened it last night. Stored in the dark at steady cool temps, it's improved nicely. The tartrate fallout is impressive with this rich, fruit forward wine. Just the right amount of oak. Not my best but very drinkable. I look forward to making wine again when we move back to Palisade.

Making your own wine or beer is an offshoot endeavor of growing, hunting and preparing your own food. Superior quality and immensely satisfying. Old fashioned nowadays. Many people don't even chop their own vegetables. They pay other people at six times the cost.

At first my favorite part of hanging Christmas lights was how long it takes. But today I experienced some 110v while at the top of a two story ladder.

I did. I wasn't happy though. I think that since everything is "indoor/outdoor" it's built with very loose tolerances to help water drain. So as a result, it's surprisingly easy to cross thread the bulbs. I had one cross threaded and my finger hit the metal.

I used to tell people that I could cross thread a light bulb (I stole that joke from someone on here), but now I really have.

Sometimes with 110v 60Hz you can't let go. Maybe that's a bonus?

Glad you're OK.

Hey thanks. I don't think anything else was on that circuit (thank God). Just what you see in the photo. Each LED bulb is only 1 watt, so it wasn't drawing too much.

No aluminum ladders when jacking with electricity, and use polarized plugs on light strings so the center contact on the sockets are your hot contacts and not the outer shell/thread.

I make a point to not work with anything while it's plugged in. That said, I was pretty confident that I could properly unscrew, and screw in a single bulb while it was plugged in, but I guess I was wrong. I do happen to have a fiberglass big ladder now, but since I have to move it every six feet, the extra weight is not attractive.

Was filling in for a guy in hospital, but (gov) client isn't ready to go now anyway. My luck he'll recover.

Which suppressor for 22 cal and why?

I like my TBAC 22TD and it's magnum rated for all the rimfire boolits.

Not as tiny as a bitty, but sure is quiet.

I have one of the 1st gen 4" tbac 22 / 22wmr rated cans. As well as an old TAC-85 unit. Outside the 22 wmr rating of the tbac, I like the TAC-65 better.

Casper last weekend for family stuff, undisclosed mountain location this weekend for family stuff, thanksgiving and Christmas coming soon, and trying to cram my fourth quarter job stuff in between all of that.

Sometimes I feel as busy as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. (No offense, Jim)

This has been my usual response, until last year I took grand daughter to Ark for Black Friday. We had a blast, she got to handle a few guns she had never seen before, I got a couple good deals on guns and had good visit with Noah, staff and several folks from forum. Gonna do it again this year.

So the main program that I use for work has a spell checker built in, I guess. It always puts the little red line under the word "perimeter." It drives me crazy to the point where I've looked it up multiple times to make sure I don't have a blind spot in my spelling. So fucking aggravating that a program that deals exclusively with structural damage wouldn't have the word perimeter in its little dictionary.
